Liverpool vs Brentford – Premier League: Live score, team news and updates as the Reds look to bounce back from shock defeat to Toulouse plus updates from the other 2pm games

Ahead of this afternoon’s match against Brentford, Jurgen Klopp admitted it was always ‘interesting’ to play against Thomas Frank’s side.

‘Super challenging to play Thomas Frank and Brentford, for different reasons. They are doing very well,” Klopp said in his pre-match interview.

‘I’m not sure they’re 100 per cent happy with the season, but losing Ivan Toney – the player he was for them – is really cruel. But they are stable in the table, which is probably what Brentford wants: to get through this situation and then when he comes back, use him again or whatever.

‘It’s well organised; had a few problems in the season, I would say, getting used to the game without Ivan, but if you look at the table they are in the middle with a tendency to go up.

“It’s well-organized, sensational set-pieces, all that kind of stuff. Really attacking players, very fast, really good counter-attacks. They change their style from time to time; if they consider you a top six team then it’s a bit more defensive, if not then they have a bit more possession.

‘It’s always interesting to play them, but also difficult. But it’s Anfield and we have to take advantage of that.’
