Liverpool, Sydney: Good Samaritan is stabbed after trying to save a woman while she was being allegedly assaulted by a man in a car

A Good Samaritan was stabbed after trying to save a woman who was allegedly attacked by a man in a car.

The woman was allegedly attacked at 2am on Sunday in a car parked on Macquarie Street in Liverpool, in Sydney’s west.

A 44-year-old man, who did not know the couple, then tried to intervene.

Emergency services were called to the scene and found the Good Samaritan with multiple stab wounds.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the matter was launched.

The woman was not injured and has spoken to police.

It was the second stabbing that night, after another incident had taken place a few hours earlier.

According to New South Wales police, a fight broke out at Circular Quay in the city’s CBD around 12.30am, leaving a 20-year-old man stabbed with a broken glass bottle.

‘It is assumed that both parties do not know each other.’
