CCTV footage shows a Good Samaritan was stabbed multiple times after coming to the aid of a woman who had been attacked.
The 44-year-old man remains in hospital after he was repeatedly stabbed early on Sunday morning on Liverpool’s main street in Sydney’s south-west.
CCTV footage captured on Macquarie Street at around 2.22am showed a man being shot, followed by a woman trying to grab him before pushing herself away.
Police allege the man had earlier attacked the woman in a parked car, at which point the Good Samaritan, who did not know the pair, intervened.
The surveillance camera shows the Good Samaritan seeing a man and a woman fighting near a car.
He took off his jacket and walked over to the man to end the argument.
The man was seen pulling a knife from his car before approaching the Good Samaritan, who was stabbed multiple times.

Shocked bystanders rush to the injured man’s aid as his attacker drives away in a white Honda Accord.
Emergency services treated the Good Samaritan for multiple stab wounds before he was taken to hospital in Liverpool in a stable condition.
A crime scene was established and an investigation into the matter was launched.
The woman involved in the incident is assisting police with their investigation.
She was unharmed.
The alleged knifeman is still at large.

Police are determined to find the man with the knife.
“These crimes are distressing to the community but rest assured we are doing everything we can and using all the resources we can,” Detective Chief Inspector Rob Duncan told reporters
‘If there is no valid reason to carry a knife, you risk a hefty prison sentence.’
Police are asking anyone with information or a dashcam to come forward.
