Liverpool ‘prepare to launch a summer bid for out-of-favour Bayern Munich star Ryan Gravenberch’
Liverpool are preparing for a summer bid for out-of-favour Bayern Munich star Ryan Gravenberch – as Reds manager Jurgen Klopp plans to rebuild his dysfunctional midfield in the transfer market
- After a switch from youth club Ajax, the player was overlooked
- Neither Nagelsmann nor Tuchel have fully tested the 20-year-old prodigy
- With Bellingham’s chase behind them, Liverpool are focused on a full rebuild
Liverpool are poised to make a move for struggling Bayern Munich Ryan Gravenberch, according to reports, as Jurgen Klopp’s side are rebuilding their midfield amid news the club has dropped out of the race for Jude Bellingham .
The 20-year-old Gravenberch made the move from Ajax to Bavaria for £16.3 million (€18.5 million) last year after impressing in the Eredivisie.
The midfielder became the youngest-ever Ajax player to play in the league on his debut in 2018, aged 16 years and 130 days, and scored his first Champions League goal in November 2020.
But Gravenberch has struggled to break into the Munich team, first under Julian Nagelsmann and now under new manager Thomas Tuchel.
The player traveled to the Etihad as an unused substitute during the side’s heavy defeat to City in the Champions League, and has started just four games in all competitions this season.

From Foot MercatoGravenberch finds the situation frustrating and doubts his future in the Bundesliga.
Earlier this season, while playing under sacked manager Nagelsmann, Gravenberch expressed his annoyance in an interview with ESPN.
“To be honest, yes I am [frustrated],’ said the player.
“You want to play, but the manager chooses other players. I have to accept it, but it’s hard. I was hoping for more minutes, but I have to be quiet in my head.
“Maybe the manager will give me more minutes after the international break.”
Gravenberch broke through at a very young age in the selection of Ajax, but has not found his feet at Ajax
Tuchel has yet to fulfill Gravenberch’s wishes, and with the end of the season in sight, Gravenberch may still be tempted elsewhere.
The Netherlands international has attracted interest from Arsenal and Manchester United, but the Reds are likely to prioritize the pursuit of Gravenberch – should they develop their interest in the player – due to their pressing concerns in midfield.
Klopp was vocal in his desire to secure the talents of Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund, but the Merseyside club had to put their intentions aside due to the huge transfer fee expected for the England star.
Instead, the club’s hierarchy will shift their intentions to a broader team rebuild, with Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher of Chelsea, Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella and Matheus Nunes of Wolves as their main targets for the upcoming transfer window.
