Liverpool ‘open negotiations on a deal for Nice’s £52m midfield talent Khephren Thuram’ with the Frenchman ‘anxious to develop under the management of Jurgen Klopp’
- Liverpool are reportedly keen to sign Liverpool midfielder Khephren Thuram
- Jurgen Klopp is keen to rethink his midfield in the upcoming transfer window
- Nice has reportedly set a fee of £52 million for the Frenchman’s signature
Liverpool have reportedly opened negotiations with Ligue 1 side Nice over a potential deal for talented midfielder Khephren Thuram.
Thuram has attracted the attention of Premier League clubs, but Liverpool appear to be trying to steal a march in the race for the Frenchman’s signature.
The 22-year-old star is the youngest son of former Juventus and Barcelona defender Lillian Thuram and the brother of Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Marcus.
Jurgen Klopp is keen to overhaul his midfield after being forced to end Liverpool’s pursuit of Jude Bellingham moving to Real Madrid as some at the club prepare to be part of a massive summer cleanup.
Roberto Firmino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and James Milner pack their bags in preparation for confirmed departures as their contracts expire.

A lower wage bill has freed up money for new signings and Thuram’s recent form has seen Liverpool start talks over his transfer, according to L’Equipe.
The Reds have apparently been impressed by the Frenchman’s reliability, physicality and energy in midfield, all factors that were missing from their engine room during a difficult season that saw them miss out on Champions League football.
Thuram’s improvement from France’s top 35 appearances for Nice earned him a place in Ligue 1’s Team of the Year, along with a debut call-up to the France national team.
Nice believe their talent could develop into one of Europe’s best midfielders and have apparently put down £52 million for Thuram’s signature.
The Premier League giants have reportedly already met with the box-to-box midfielder’s representatives and the player is said to be attracted to the idea of continuing his development under Klopp.

Thuram doesn’t seem eager to sour his relationship with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s French team, however, and has recently said he is ‘happy’ in Nice.
“I want to progress, be on the field, have fun. For now I’m at Nice, and I’m doing very well, I really like the club, so I still see myself at Nice,” he said.
“I’m happy at Nice. There are rumours, I hear them, but I’m happy at Nice and I hope to grow with this club’
Meanwhile, Liverpool are also looking to secure the permanent transfer of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton after the Argentine’s excellent season for both club and country.
