Liverpool legend Phil Thompson has criticized Roy Keane and told him to 'get a life' after the Sky Sports pundit branded Virgil van Dijk as arrogant.
Van Dijk provoked a response from Keane after insisting Jurgen Klopp's side were the only team playing to win in Sunday's goalless draw.
Manchester United legend Keane said the comments were arrogant and disrespectful, adding: 'He needs a reminder himself; he plays for a club that has won the title once in thirty years.'
Thompson, who won 23 trophies at Liverpool between 1971 and 1984, has fired back at Keane. In doing so, he seems to emphasize the irony of the Sky Sports expert calling Van Dijk arrogant.
He told talkSPORT: 'I don't think he (Van Dijk) was arrogant, he just gave his opinion. Like Roy gives his opinion, like Gary (Neville) gives his opinion.

Former Liverpool player Phil Thompson has responded to Keane to 'get a life'
'It wasn't arrogant at all. I'd say it was more frustration.
'I really feel that you came out of that match knowing that you dominated, that Manchester United had that one chance with (Rasmus) Hojlund and all you felt was frustration. There was no arrogance.'
He added: 'And for Roy Keane to talk about arrogance in people… come on, do me a favour.
“And I love Roy, but I played that back and he kept repeating the word. Roy, just get a life.”
Van Dijk also responded to Keane's comments on Sunday, insisting there was honesty but not arrogance after Liverpool had 34 shots but failed to score for the first time since April.
“I like Roy Keane, if he says that it's fine,” he said. 'He's Man United all the time and I understand he could react like that, but I felt what I said and there's absolutely no arrogance behind it.
“Anyone who watched the game probably felt the same way. We go on. We had the chance and couldn't score and that's the frustrating thing.'
Mail Sport columnist and Thompson's ex-Liverpool teammate Souness has also had his say. Speaking on talkSPORT's White and Jordan show, he said the 32-year-old Dutchman 'needs to get used to it!'
