Liverpool youth squad Billy Koumetio stunned his teammates with a goal from inside his own half against PSG 4-2 in Wednesday’s Premier League International Cup clash.

The French defender took the initiative with his team in possession by playing the ball from behind, before Koumetio saw the keeper off his line and sent him flying overhead from miles away.

The 20-year-old has only made two senior appearances for the Reds, one of which came in a dramatic penalty shootout win over Leicester in the Carabao Cup last season, and was part of the team that lost the FA Youth 2021. Cup Final against Aston Villa.

Koumetio’s upset came after just nine minutes of action in Kirkby, with the Reds getting off to a great start to the encounter.

Koumetio has recently returned to the club after spending the first half of the season on loan at Austrian side Vienna, where he made 11 appearances, including one in the Europa Conference League.

And his Reds teammates were in awe of his goal, wasting no time in praising the youngster’s shoulders on Instagram.

Defender Owen Beck, on loan at Bolton Wanderers, echoed the sentiment with a surprise emoji.

And young right-back Isaac Mabaya added two rocket emojis.

Koumetio’s youth teammates at Liverpool were quick to comment on the defender’s post.

Having opened the scoring in stunning fashion, the defender later netted Liverpool’s third of the night on the stroke of half-time, to cap off a sensational individual performance.

And his teammates weren’t the only ones left speechless after the goal.
