A Liverpool fan tragically died on Monday night after being hit by a car in Milan, sources said.
Reports from Italian media The corridor of the Sera And The Sports Gazette claim the 51-year-old fan was hit by an SUV at 1am while crossing the A4 motorway near Bergamo’s Orio al Serio airport.
He reportedly flew in from Manchester and arrived in Italy just before midnight.
The fan tried to cross the highway to reach the NH Hotel. He reportedly managed to cross three lanes before being hit by a car.
In a tragic twist, media reports claim the fan had a ticket for Liverpool’s Champions League match against Milan at San Siro in his pocket at the time of his death, along with his passport.

Il Corriere della Serra also reported that a father and son were seen with the victim, but that they chose not to cross the highway.
The report states that witnesses reported the pair to authorities and that Italian police are now working to identify them. A complaint may be filed because the pair did not provide any assistance.
Police are also investigating whether the fan was “in an altered psychophysical state that could have influenced his actions.”
The tragedy occurred less than 24 hours before Liverpool’s opening Champions League match against AC Milan at the San Siro.
It will be the fifth Champions League meeting between the two teams. Their most famous encounter was the 2005 final in Istanbul, when Liverpool came from 3-0 down to win on penalties.
