Liverpool have discussed the possible signing of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone this summer.
Jürgen Klopp’s side are exploring a number of midfield options to strengthen an area of the field that has been a weak point for them during the recent campaign.
Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister, Chelsea’s Mason Mount and Nice’s Khephren Thuram are among those linked with a move to Anfield.
But now The Reds are in talks to acquire Kone from the Bundesliga side.
The 22-year-old joined Mönchengladbach in January 2021 and has since made 60 appearances for the club, scoring four goals.

German outlet BILD have meanwhile also reported that Liverpool have been in touch with Kone representatives to express their interest.
The German side is said to want somewhere between £35m and £40m for the France U21 international.
Kone has a contract until 2025 and the German club has the option to extend his contract for another year.
BILD claims that Mönchengladbach will use any compensation they receive for Kone to help fund moves for new players over the summer term – as they try to build on a 10th-place finish.
Reports in France yesterday claimed that the Reds have opened talks with Nice over a possible move for Thuram.
Thuram has attracted the attention of Premier League clubs, but Liverpool appear to be trying to steal a march in the race for the Frenchman’s signature.
The 22-year-old star is the youngest son of former Juventus and Barcelona defender Lillian Thuram and the brother of Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Marcus.
Klopp is keen to overhaul his midfield after being forced to end Liverpool’s pursuit of Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid, and with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and James Milner leaving at the end of their contracts this summer.
Although Liverpool are regarded as the favorites to sign Mac Allister, their hopes of signing Mount were dented when rivals Manchester United planned to make a £55 million bid for the England international.
