Live-action Tangled casting rumor sends internet into a frenzy
The internet is in an uproar over a casting rumor for Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Tangled.
In December, it was confirmed that the company was working on a live adaptation of the beloved animated film.
Immediately, people on the Internet started wondering: Who will portray the characters they know and love?
Now, a series of posts on X, formerly Twitter, claim that a certain actress is being eyed to play Mother Gothel in the new film, but fans are divided over the rumors.
Multiple X accounts have said that Kathryn Hahn is in the running to play the villain, and the speculation was met with mixed reactions on the platform.
“Kathryn Hahn is reportedly being eyed to play Mother Gothel in Disney’s live-action Tangled movie,” an account called @cosmic_marvel tweeted on Saturday.
“Absolutely not,” one replied, while another said: “Boring.”
“This would be perfect casting,” someone else disagreed.

‘Accurate casting, but there is better. there is no wow factor,” said a fourth tweet. ‘Too safe a choice.’
Another user suggested Helena Bonham Carter for the role, while someone else said: ‘What about Idina Menzel?’
When asked if she would be interested in taking on the role, Entertainment tonight last month, Kathryn, 51, excitedly said: “Yes. I mean, I’m really good at karaoke.’
She recently played the evil witch Agatha Harkness in the Marvel series Agatha All Along, performing a musical number with her co-star, acclaimed Broadway performer Patti LuPone.
“Singing next to Patti LuPone is really humbling,” she jokingly added.
Tangled tells the story of Rapunzel, a princess with magical hair that can provide eternal youth.
She was kidnapped as a baby by an old witch named Mother Gothel, who keeps her locked in a tower so she could use her powers to stay young.
But when a man named Flynn Rider accidentally encounters her, he and Rapunzel go on an adventure together and discover her true identity along the way.

Variety reported last month that a live-action rendition was officially in the works, and that Greatest Showman filmmaker Michael Gracey was in talks to direct it.
Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who previously wrote Thor: Love and Thunder and the upcoming reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer, is reportedly writing the script.
The original 2010 cartoon starred Mandy Moore as Rapunzel, Zachary Levi as Flynn Rider, and Donna Murphy and Mother Gothel.
After it was announced that there would be a new version, fans called for Sabrina Carpenter to be cast as the blonde-haired princess.
