Little-known iPhone hack could save YOUR life in an emergency

The fear of being followed by a dark street or an empty parking lot can hinder your thoughts of calling for help.

But iPhone users have recently discovered a little-known feature that allows them to instantly connect to emergency services.

Users just need to press quickly press the button on the top five times to access SOS Emergency Call.

This feature calls 911 and shares your location information with emergency services and contacts.

The feature initially rolled out to Apple Watches was added to iPhones with the release of iOS 11, but TikTokers are re-sharing the option and discovering it could be a means between life and death.

User CJ Bathgate shared a video explaining how the “iPhone hack” made her feel safe when she was being tracked.

Another TikToker, which sells portland503, shared the feature during a recent podcast, noting that kidnapping is her biggest fear.

“Clicking the power button on the iPhone activates an emergency response system,” said the user.

“If you don’t press cancel, the emergency services will be called automatically.”

After you end the call to emergency services, your iPhone sends a text message to the emergency contacts you contacted 911 with.

Your iPhone sends your current location, and after you activate SOS mode, your emergency contacts will receive updates when your location changes.

Apple announced Emergency SOS via satellite in 2022, allowing iPhone 14 users to send text messages in the event of an emergency outside of cellular and Wi-Fi coverage.

The messages are sent in about 15 seconds if the user has a direct view of the sky and horizon, but the call for help may take longer if there are obstacles such as forests or mountains in the vicinity.

The service is possible via 24 Globalstar satellites, with users pointing their iPhones to the sky to connect to one of the devices which then sends their message to the nearest exchange.

Users open Settings, tap Emergency SOS, and then follow the onscreen instructions.

When using Emergency SOS via satellite, you can share your medical ID and notify your emergency contacts.
