REVEALED: Lisandro Martinez has nicknamed Wout Weghorst ‘BOBO’, or ‘IDIOT’ at Man United, after his infamous World Cup brawl with Lionel Messi when the Dutch striker angered the Argentina captain with his antics.

- Substitute Wout Weghorst had scored a late brace to take the game into extra time.
- In the tunnel after the win, Messi told Weghorst: ‘What are you looking at, idiot?’
Lisandro Martinez has reportedly nicknamed his new Manchester United teammate Wout Weghorst ‘Bobo’ after the Dutch striker’s infamous feud with Lionel Messi.
The Argentina of Martínez and Messi eliminated Weghorst’s Netherlands on penalties from the World Cup in a quarterfinal tie that soon turned ugly.
Weghorst, now on loan at Manchester United, came on as a substitute with the Netherlands two goals down, but scored a late brace to force extra time.
The game was marred by ugly scenes after a huge fight broke out before Weghorst’s equalizing goal and an iconic image of Argentina’s players goading their opponent after Lautaro Martinez’s winning penalty was born.
Although Messi ran directly to congratulate goalkeeper Emi Martinez, the Argentina captain was still heavily involved in the unpleasant scenes.

While Weghorst was waiting for Messi in the tunnel, supposedly to shake the PSG star’s hand and ask for his shirt, they told him: ‘You look silly. Anda palla’, which translates as: ‘What are you looking at, stupid? Clean.’
It was an ugly side of Messi that hadn’t been seen before, but Martinez still sees the funny side, dubbing Weghorst ‘Bobo’ since his arrival at Old Trafford, according to SPORT.
It is understood that the love has not been lost and Weghorst does not care about the nickname despite the angst of the World Cup.
After the World Cup events had died down, Weghorst joked that he was grateful Messi knew his name.
“I always give my all and I did the same in the quarter-finals,” he told Dutch outlet De Telegraaf. “I fought against Messi and there were some moments between us.
‘I think he didn’t like it and it surprised him. But I have a lot of respect for him. He is among the greatest of all time.

Weghorst seemed to insist that their confrontation was a misunderstanding and saw the funny side of the altercation with the now World Cup winner.
He continued: “I wanted to show my respect for Messi after the game, but he didn’t want it.
I think he was still mad at me. Well, I take it as a great compliment that you know my name now. So at least I did something right.
Weghorst completed his loan spell to Manchester United in January and will remain at Old Trafford until the end of the season.
