Lisa Marie’s Unusual Husbands: Nic Cage, Michael Jackson, and Michael Lockwood’s Divorce

The daughter and only child of rock and roll legend Elvis Presley had a love life befitting the genre her father helped found.

A musician herself, Lisa Marie Presley was first married to rock and roll guitarist Danny Keough, whom she met as a teenager while both were interned in a drug rehab facility.

The couple were married for six years and had two children together, but Presley shrugged Keough off with a quick divorce in the Dominican Republic days before she eloped with the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, in 1994.

Their marriage, which was marred by Jackson’s child molestation charges, along with socialite trips around the world and a very awkward kiss on stage, lasted just a year and a half before they parted ways.

After Jackson, Presley became engaged to musician John Oszajca in 2000, but called it quits after meeting actor Nicholas Cage at a party. She and Cage were married in August 2002, only to file for divorce three months later.

Presley then settled down with another musician, guitarist Michael Lockwood. They were married in 2006 and had twins, but divorced 10 years after Presley claimed he found hundreds of images of child pornography on his computer. Lockwood has denied the allegation.

After dropping out of high school in her third year, Presley developed a drug abuse problem and was sent to the Scientology Celebrity Center for drug rehabilitation.

There she met Keough, a rock and roll like her father, and the two married in October 1988.

They had two children together: Song Benjamin and daughter Danielle Riley. Benjamin died by suicide in July 2020.

Although Presley and Keough divorced in 1994, the two remained close throughout their lives.

“I don’t know how, but we managed to stay together,” he said of their relationship in 2008, according to the Star Tribune. ‘There are others with whom I have associated pain or betrayal that I will have nothing to do with. But he and I had something special. Unconditional.’

He played the guitar on several of his records and even lived in a house on his property. It was Keough who found her unconscious on January 12 and called 9-11 before her death.

In 1992, Presley met Michael Jackson again, whom he had met in the 1970s when he was just seven years old.

The two struck up a friendship together, calling each other frequently on the phone and talking for hours.

That friendship turned romantic in 1993 when Jackson was accused of molesting 13-year-old Jordan Chandler. Presley became the embattled pop star’s support system during the period, eventually proposing to her during one of her calls.

The couple flew to the Dominican Republic in May 1994 to escape the press and eloped in a small private ceremony.

Their marriage was dogged by theories that they had only married to distract attention from the allegations against Jackson, that they were not having sex with each other, and speculation about when they would inevitably divorce.

The two struggled to stay at the forefront of the talk, going so far as to awkwardly take the stage while opening the 1994 MTV Video Music Awards.

“Welcome to the MTV Video Music Awards,” Jackson said as he and Presley walked onto the stage hand in hand. ‘I am very happy to be here. Just think, no one thought this would last.

And in a 1995 interview with Diane Sawyer, Presley tried to confront asexual rumors head-on.

‘Shall we have sex?’ Presley asked, then together she and Jackson exclaimed ‘Yeah! Yes! Yes!’ They added that they intended to have children together.

As if to accentuate his sexual stance, a month later, Jackson released the music video for You Are Not Alone, which featured him and Presley making out, soaked and naked, in some sort of desert temple.

Presley finally filed for divorce from Jackson in January, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’.

After struggling to get over her divorce from Jackson for several years, she met and became engaged to musician John Oszajca in 2000.

But after meeting Nicolas Cage at a party, she broke off her engagement to Oszajca and started dating the actor.

Cage said he was “in awe” when he met Presley at the party, and their whirlwind relationship was marked by ups and downs followed by tumultuous fights, along with rumors that Cage intended to buy Elvis’s Graceland mansion.

They got married in 2002, but after just 108 days they filed for divorce.

Presley described the relationship as a “wild ride” in a 2003 interview with Rolling Stone.

“You can’t have a tantrum and then call me four days later and expect, you know, everything to be okay again… so it was like that… We were both like two 12-year-olds in a sandbox, basically.” . .’

“We’re both so dramatic and dynamic that when he was good, he was unbelievably good, and when he was bad, he was just a fucking nightmare for everyone.”

Despite the famously short marriage, it would take almost two years for them to finalize their divorce.

In 2006, Presley married her music producer Michael Lockwood, who had also done extensive work with musicians like Carly Simon and Aimee Mann.

Shortly after the wedding, they had twin girls, Finley Aaron Love and Harper Vivienne Ann, and they stayed together for ten years.

The dissolution of their marriage was far from amicable. As the couple battled for custody of their children, Presley said he found hundreds of explicit photos of children on his computer.

‘When I discovered the photos in [Lockwood’s] computer, and watched the videos, I was shocked, horrified and sick to my stomach,’ Presley wrote in a court filing demanding custody of the children. ‘I had no idea that [he] I had taken those photos. I will refrain from describing the photographs in detail out of respect for my family’s privacy.

Police investigated the allegations, but later dismissed them citing lack of evidence.

“Unless there is potential new evidence or information, we have terminated our involvement in this matter,” the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said. “We have not been able to determine if a crime occurred in Tennessee.”

As the couple clashed, Lockwood returned fire demanding custody of the children citing fears that Presley would relapse into drug abuse following the death of his son Benjamin.

Presley had long tried to keep his addiction issues a secret, but the divorce court papers brought it all out.

In a 2017 deposition obtained by Radar Online, he admitted to abusing cocaine, opioids, painkillers and alcohol.

“The last three years I had to go to rehab several times,” he said, later putting the exact number between three and five periods at a Mexican treatment center.

I was a mess. I could not stop.

Presley said her addiction peaked when her marriage ended in 2016.

“The last year of our marriage, he was abusing cocaine terribly,” he said, according to court documents.

When asked if his drug use was heavy, he said: “It was bad, yes.”

She added: “I didn’t mix pills and alcohol until, like, the last two years.”
