Lisa Marie Presley was taking 80 opioid pills a DAY as she felt it was ‘too painful to be sober’ new memoir reveals

Lisa Marie Presley was taking 80 pills a day at the height of her opioid addiction, her new memoir From Here To The Great Unknown claims.

The singer, who died in 2023 at the age of 54, had become dependent on opioids after the C-section birth of her twin daughters Finley and Harper.

In her book, which her eldest daughter Riley Keough helped complete, she shared that opioid addiction took over.

“It escalated to 80 pills a day,” Lisa Marie said in her book, which went on sale Tuesday.

β€œIt took more and more time to get high, and I honestly don’t know when your body decides it can’t handle it anymore. But at some point it does decide.”

Lisa Marie added that the drug use was initially “recreational” but later “it stopped being so” because she became dependent on it.

Opioids are a class of drugs that includes synthetic opioids such as fentanyl; painkillers that are legally available by prescription, such as oxycodone (OxyContin), hydrocodone (Vicodin), codeine, morphine; the illegal drug heroin; and many others.

Lisa Marie also struggled with the suicide death of her son Benjamin in 2020.

β€œIt was an absolute matter of addiction, withdrawal from the big leagues,” Lisa Marie wrote in her book. ‘I just wanted to check out. It was too painful to be sober.”

Keough, 35, added that her mother didn’t start taking opioids until after she had twins.

But then she started taking them more often than necessary as the addiction “progressed.”

The entire family was surprised by her addiction as, except for a short time in her youth, she never liked to use drugs of any kind, the book said.

Lisa Marie eventually ended up in the hospital and then in rehab after overdosing.

Riley wrote that Lisa Marie then got high “on the post-rehab cocktail.” But when she had a seizure, she finally decided to sober up for good.

β€œShe was very chastened by the attack,” Riley wrote.

But the real problem came when Lisa Marie bariatric surgery, a medical term for surgical procedures used to manage obesity and obesity-related conditions.

Long-term weight loss with bariatric surgery can be achieved by altering intestinal hormones, physically reducing stomach size, reducing nutrient absorption, or a combination of these.

After Lisa Marie died, it was shared that it was not from an opioid addiction, but rather a β€œsmall bowel obstruction’ caused by bariatric surgery.

The autopsy found that the opioids in her system did not contribute to her death.
