According to her friend Lisa Ling, the late Barbara Walters was muscled out of her chair in 2014 on The View – the show she created.
Ling, 49, talking to The cut Monday, said Walters β who died last December at age 93 β made the revelation to her on her last day filming the 2014 ABC chat roundtable.
Ling, who is currently a reporter for CNN, told the outlet she had “never shared this before” [information] with someone.’
Ling said that on the last day of filming, she said to Walters off-camera about her impending retirement, “Barbara, are you going to lounge in a hammock in Tahiti in a few months?”
Ling said Walters responded to her in a whisper, “They’re forcing me to stop.”
