This is the touching moment a Minnesota woman took off her favorite purple sneakers and gave them to a homeless man who had been using cardboard boxes.
Aunt Leia Thomas, aka ‘Ace,’ saw the man without shoes digging through the trash while working at the Brooklyn Center liquor store.
He immediately handed over his prized Nike Air Jordans, which represented the Minnesota Vikings, his favorite football team.
The team is aware of the story and is looking for a way to celebrate his generosity, Kare11 News reported.
“I see his feet and I automatically took off my shoes,” Thomas said. CBS News.

Thomas, whose nickname is Ace, was so upset by what she saw that she called out to the man and began removing her prized Nike Air Jordans.
The man gladly took the shoes and proudly walked away in his new footwear moments later.
“I was always taught to help others,” said Ta Leia Thomas. ‘You never know what their problem is, or what they are going through’
The event was caught on the store’s surveillance camera.
Evidently touched by the woman’s kind gesture, the man enthusiastically accepted the donation, telling her ‘no one would give me shoes like that’.
Thomas responded, in part, “well, I’m not everyone.”
“I didn’t care about the shoes, I cared about him,” she later told Kare11 News. ‘He didn’t know me, I didn’t know him. I thought that the best thing would be to give him something that he might need, so I took it.
Thomas added that she “was always taught to help others.” You never know what her problem is, or what they’re going through.’
When the store’s operations manager, Tom Agnes, heard about his employees’ act of kindness, he said: ‘You know the old saying about taking your shirt off. He literally took his shoes off his feet.
When she saw Thomas in socks helping customers, she ran and bought it. a new pair of shoes.
She also posted about the moment on Facebook, which garnered hundreds of cheers, likes, and comments.
‘This is a true example of empathy, compassion, and holiday cheer. We can all appreciate a story like this during the holiday season,” she said, in part.
“We applaud Ace for his selflessness and willingness to help those in need!”

Still wanting to replace her beloved Nike Air Jordans, Agnes and some friends in the industry came together to raise $450 for Thomas.
But, before buying the slippers, the store supervisor discovered that what she really needed was a bed for her mother.
She learned that her mother is all she ‘has’ and that Thomas sleeps on the floor so her mother can have the bed.
Agnes said, ‘I’m like, ah. We don’t need to buy Ace a pair of shoes, we need to buy Ace a bed. So, I gave him cash instead of the shoes to get mom a bed.
“I wish I could have dozens of Aces on staff,” added the store’s operations manager.
