A leather jacket worn by Michael Jackson in a Pepsi advert has sold for £250,000.

The black and white jacket, shown for the advert in 1984, was among more than 200 pieces of music memorabilia sold in London last week at the Propstore auction.

George Michael’s leather and denim La Rocka jacket that he wore during a duet with Aretha Franklin in I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me) was bought for £93,750.

Amy Winehouse’s beehive hairpiece for her 2007 video You Know I’m No Good sold for £18,750.

A Gibson guitar belonging to AC/DC’s Angus Young remained unsold, as did a limited edition Yellow Submarine Beatles jukebox.

Jackson’s ads for Pepsi are mainly remembered because his hair caught fire during filming, causing him to suffer severe burns.

At the time, he was wearing a different jacket than the one sold at the Propstore auction.
