Lions’ Dan Campbell doxxed by daughter’s classmate prompting family’s relocation – report

According to Dan Campbell, the home address was made public on social media earlier this year by a classmate of his daughter. a report from the Detroit News published on Monday, leading the Detroit Lions head coach to sell the family’s home after at least four documented incidents of harassment and unwanted visitors on the property.

According to the Detroit News, doxxing prompted several people to show up at the Campbells’ Bloomfield Township, Michigan, home on the evening of January 28, shortly after the Lions’ loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.

An investigation by police and NFL security revealed that a male high school classmate of Campbell’s daughter posted the family’s home address on Snapchat with the caption: “Dumb asshole trying to get a go.”

Campbell and his wife, Holly, who were still in the Bay Area at the time, became “nervous for their daughter’s safety” at the suburban home after vehicles and people appeared in front of the house, the report said. The daughter’s boyfriend, who was also at the home, “went outside in his vehicle and flashed his headlights at anyone approaching, causing those people to turn and leave,” the report said.

The report states that the daughter’s classmate was identified and interviewed by detectives the next day, but authorities told Holly Campbell that the incident did not meet the standard to file criminal charges against the classmate.

The classmate said he and his friends were “upset” over the Lions’ loss to the 49ers and found “humor” in the Snapchat post. The classmate and his friends later drove to the Campbells’ home, parked on the street and “yelled no nice things at the house” before leaving, the report said.

“Holly’s only concern is that her address is now public, and she fears that next season people will know her husband is out of town and try to take advantage of that,” the investigator wrote, according to the report.

Last week Crain’s Detroit Business reported The Campbells’ address was posted online, leading to pranks and harassment on multiple occasions. The publication said Campbell and his wife bought a 7,800-square-foot Cape Cod-style “mansion” in Oakland County, Michigan, in 2021.

“The house is beautiful,” Campbell told Crain’s. “It’s just that people found out where we lived when we lost.”

While Campbell didn’t provide any information about the family’s new home, the old house was listed for sale on Zillow on Tuesday for $4.5 million and was under contract the same day. According to Zillow information, the five-bedroom, seven-bathroom home on 1.72 acres sold in March 2021 for $3.5 million.

Campbell’s Lions were 3-13-1 in his first season in 2021, but have since gone 23-14.
