Inter Miami has received $75 million from investment group Ares Management Corp. after the arrival of Lionel Messi in the United States.

The Argentina World Cup winner has made an incredible start in the US, scoring five goals in his first three appearances for his new team.

And now, according to widespread reports, Ares has acquired a $75 million preferred equity stake in the team that the club plans to use to help develop a new stadium.

Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas said in a statement: reported by YahooAres has been a key contributor in accelerating Inter Miami’s growth over the past two years.

“This latest investment comes at a turning point for the club with the planned development of our new stadium and the arrival of Lionel Messi, among other key initiatives.”

It is the group’s second investment – in 2021 they invested $150 million in the team.

It represents more good news for Miami at a time when, until Messi arrived in Miami, the team had endured a miserable season.

Messi’s first three games have all been in the Leagues Cup, where the team will face Dallas on Sunday evening.

But in Major League Soccer, Miami is last in the Eastern Conference and is already 12 points behind in the battle for the playoffs.

Miami will return to MLS action in a few weeks, away to Charlotte FC on Saturday, August 19.
