Lionel Messi lives up to his Hollywood billing as Inter Miami continues to follow the blockbuster plot with a 2-0 win over LAFC in front of Prince Harry, Leonardo DiCaprio and Will Ferrell

Inter Miami faced Los Angeles in front of a star-studded crowd that only Tinseltown can offer except Lionel Messi and co. delivered a performance worthy of the Hollywood stage.

Despite Messi’s fairytale arrival in Miami, the Herons still faced the challenge of making the MLS playoffs, but they kept the blockbuster plot alive with a victory over the reigning MLS Cup champions on Sunday night.

LAFC had Miami on the back foot almost immediately after the whistle, but Facundo Farias tore up the script and opened the scoring against game pace in the 14th minute.

Jordi Alba doubled the Herons’ lead shortly after the break before Messi edged Leonardo Campana to near victory.

However, Ryan Hollingshead had been trying to get a lifeline to the hosts when he pulled one back in the 90th minute, but it came a little too late as LAFC failed to assemble enough to threaten Miami.
