With only days left until a highly anticipated League Cup game against Inter Miami, Philadelphia Union head coach Jim Curtin has issued a plea for fans not to sell their tickets to the game, regardless of cost.
“Please don’t sell your tickets no matter how much money they offer for them,” Curtin implored Philadelphia fans during his post-game remarks following the team’s 2-1 victory over Liga MX team Querataro.
“We know we’re going to have a full Subaru Park. It will surely become the number one ticket in town. I’m sure there will be some celebrities here in Philly, so I’m looking forward to it.’
Ticket sales on resale website Seat Geek currently have prices ranging from $450-$1,436 ahead of Tuesday’s game – a semi-final.
If the turnout at Miami’s recent away game against FC Dallas is any indication, fans in Philadelphia can expect a large turnout of Messi fans who, decked out head-to-toe in pink and black, pour into the stadium for the game.

Since Messi’s arrival in Miami, which coincided perfectly with the start of the Leagues Cup, they have scored 17 goals in five games. Eight of these come from the World Cup winner himself.
While numbers like that can strike fear into the hearts of some opponents, Curtin presented himself as someone up for the challenge when he spoke Friday night.
“We look forward to hosting the greatest player in the history of the sport in our building,” said Curtin.
“I think it will definitely be the loudest Subaru Park ever. It’s a great matchup and if we play like we did (Friday) we’ll be in big trouble.”
“We’re talking about the greatest player of all time coming here in the semi-finals with a trophy on the line, a spot in the Champions League on the line. So it’s a big game. I know our fans will show up.’
Philadelphia is about to present Messi and his teammates with their biggest challenge yet as the Union ranks third in the MLS Eastern Conference.
The Union have also won seven consecutive games, counting back to their last two league games before the Leagues Cup kicked off, so the team is sure to come into the game with a strong surge of momentum.
