Lionel Messi had a water bottle thrown at him after Inter Miami’s defeat to LAFC on Sunday night, video footage shows.
Messi, who had two assists in the 3-1 win, was walking off the pitch at BMO Stadium alongside his bodyguard when the object was thrown and splashed in his direction.
The bottle missed the World Cup winner, who flinched as his bodyguard also looked alarmed.

A few minutes earlier, in the 73rd minute, Messi was rushed by a field invader.

The fan, wearing a Barcelona jersey, successfully reached out to the attacker and even managed to wrap his arms around him in an attempt to hug the football superstar.
However, the supporter was quickly pried away from Messi by his bodyguard, who had sprinted onto the pitch to protect his client.
The fan was then passed to stadium security.
In the end, Messi was not distracted by the incident as he added his second assist of the evening to Leo Campana in the 83rd minute.
He also set up Jordi Alba for the fullback’s first Miami goal in the 51st minute with a perfectly weighted through ball.
Miami, still eight points from the final Eastern Conference play-in spot with nine games remaining, will face Sporting KC at home on Saturday.
