- Inter Miami, Saudi side Al-Hilal and Barcelona have all been linked to the star
Lionel Messi will leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of this season and the Argentinian will play his last game against Clermont Foot on Saturday.
PSG manager Christophe Galtier confirmed in a press conference on Friday afternoon that the World Cup winner is leaving, with Inter Miami as one of many possible destinations.
“Clermont Foot will be Messi’s last game at PSG,” said Galtier. “I had the privilege of coaching the best player in football history. It will be Leo’s last game in the Parc des Princes.’
Messi joined PSG after a financial tussle with Barcelona in 2021 and has won a pair of Ligue 1 titles, although the Parisians have come no closer to winning the Champions League crown they covet.
The 35-year-old hinted that leaving Barcelona allowed him to mature as a player and some suggest leaving his comfort zone allowed him to develop the leadership skills he showed in winning the Qatar World Cup in December.

French media reported this morning that Messi could make a sensational return to the Camp Nou but that Barcelona would struggle to commit a transfer financially.
However, an alternative suggested by L’Equipe is that Messi could move to Inter Miami and be loaned out to the Catalan club.
Inter Miami, led by Phil Neville, would offer Messi a lucrative package, while there is still interest from Asian clubs.
“I hope he will be welcomed in the best way,” Galtier added ahead of Messi’s final match. PSG have already won the Ligue 1 title.
There have also been suggestions that the World Cup winner will sign a lucrative deal with Saudi side Al-Hilal.
Rumors circulated last month that Messi was close to signing a £522 million contract with Al-Hilal despite the concerns of his wife Antonela Roccuzzo.
However, Messi’s father, Jorge, stopped reporting that a decision had been made on his son’s club for next season.
Messi’s father said on social media: “There is absolutely nothing with any club for next year. The decision will never be made until Lionel has finished the competition with PSG.
“Once the season is over, it’s time to analyze and see what’s out there and then make a decision.
“There are always rumors and many use the name Lionel to gain fame, but the truth is only one and we can assure that nothing is wrong with anyone.
“Neither verbally, nor signed, nor agreed, and that will not be until the end of the season.”
