Lionel Messi continues to shock his new Inter Miami teammates after another magical performance against Dallas: ‘No one expected him to do what he does!’
Lionel Messi’s exploits for Inter Miami continue to surprise even his teammates, with competition winner Benjamin Cremaschi admitting after their victory over Dallas that no one expected the Argentine to have such a remarkable impact.
Messi’s incredible start in the United States continued on Sunday night as he scored twice to inspire Inter Miami to a comeback win over Dallas.
Tata Martino’s side reached the last eight of Leagues Cup after trailing 4–2 with just 10 minutes remaining.
Messi’s free-kick was headed into his own net by Dallas defender Marco Farfan before the 36-year-old sent a new element of play into the top corner with five minutes to play.
That saw the last 16 game end in penalties and Messi scored Miami’s first spot-kick as they ran out 5-3 winners in the shootout.

Cremaschi came on as a second-half substitute and scored Miami’s second goal after more magic from Messi and Jordi Alba.
The 18-year-old then scored the winning spot-kick and Cremaschi insisted he never imagined Messi would make such a difference so quickly.
“It’s amazing what he can do,” said the teen.
“No one expected him to do what he does. He scored twice in almost every game.
“We can’t wait for him to keep it up and help us get as far as we can…I don’t get tired of talking about him, I never will!”

Messi scored seven goals in his first four Inter Miami appearances to take Martino’s side to four straight victories. And after this comeback, the manager praised his team’s courage.
“It was a game where Dallas played better for almost 60 minutes,” Martino admitted.
“We showed a lot of character coming back twice… I think it bodes well for us as it helps us believe we are a great team.”
Miami now meets the winner of Charlotte vs Houston in the last eight.
