Dad breaks silence to give harrowing update on Gold Coast woman Linley Anyos, who was shot in the back outside a Tallebudgera home
The father of a woman who was mysteriously shot in the back while helping a friend move has called for an end to speculation about his daughter’s condition and need for space at a “dangerous moment in her healing.”
Linley Anne Anyos, 33, remains in a critical condition at the Gold Coast University Hospital, four days after she was shot while sitting in a blue Volkswagen Jetta outside a home in Tallebudgera, on the Gold Coast, around noon on Wednesday.
Her father Brian Anyos took to social media late Saturday night to address persistent rumors that his daughter had died in hospital.
As you have heard, Linley – Ling Ling or however you know her, has suffered a life changing situation and while some people may promote and commiserate with her death, that is simply not true,” Mr Anyos wrote.
“Linley is in really bad shape, but Linley is one of the toughest people we all know and fights like an animal.”
Mr Anyos also thanked well-wishers and pleaded for space and privacy as he and his family maintain a night vigil.
“We want you all to respect that Linley is at a very dangerous stage in her healing and needs time and space so that the wonderful medical team working with Linley can do their work,” he wrote.
“Amy (his wife) and I are absolutely heartbroken, as I assume many of you are, and while we would love for you all to shower Linley with love and wishes, for now you’ll have to do that here.

“Please share this message with everyone you like, and when the time is right for Linley to receive visitors, we will let you know.”
Mr Anyos said this period has been “bloody tough” for him, his wife and Linley’s two younger siblings.
“We will continue to update you as we know more,” he said.
“And whatever needs to be done to support Linley is put in place by us so you can help where you can.”
Police believe Ms. Anyos was shot from the backseat of the car, possibly by a man she knows.
The search for the suspected shooter and the weapon continued Sunday evening.

Detectives have not ruled out that the shooting was an accident.
It comes after Daily Mail Australia revealed Ms Anyos had spent time in prison for a series of offenses and was due to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court last Monday, just two days before the shooting on unknown charges.
She was arrested in August 2020 after a loaded gun was reportedly discovered in her car following a road rage incident in Carbrook, south Brisbane.
She was initially charged with a range of offenses including knowingly endangering the safety of a person in a vehicle, possessing a Schedule 1 dangerous drug in an amount exceeding a Schedule 3 quantity, possessing in public possession of a short firearm loaded with Category D/H/R, and breach of bail.
Police believe the shot was fired from the back seat of the car, possibly by a man known to Ms Anyos
No arrests or charges have been filed and the firearm used has yet to be located by police
Prior to the incident, she was charged with supplying cocaine Courier MaiI reported it at the time.
A victim impact statement claimed they were ‘struck (by a vehicle) with no headlights on’, a gun was fired and Ms Anyos exited a vehicle while holding a bat.
However, both the involvement of a bat and the firing of a gun were later refuted.
It was also later proven that Ms Anyos was not behind the wheel of the car.
Ms Anyos was arrested again in January 2023 after allegedly throwing a syringe filled with GHB into a forest while fleeing from police.
Her lawyer, Lisa Searing, told the court that Ms Anyos had fallen into the wrong group after a difficult childhood, but was determined to turn her life around by taking up an apprenticeship later that year.
“Her grandparents love her, her family love her, but she’s had some problems,” Mrs Searing said. News Corp reported.
‘That led to her using drugs and mainly dating the wrong men, which unfortunately had a quite negative impact on probably the last five years of her life.
Linley Anyos’ troubled past comes to the fore while she is on a ventilator in the hospital
“She’s normally someone who’s held in high esteem.”
Ms Anyos was sentenced to three months in prison after pleading guilty to one count of possessing dangerous drugs and failing to appear.
Daily Mail Australia also revealed she shared the same network of friends as Chloe Jade Mason, 23, who was reportedly shot outside a home in Caboolture on the Sunshine Coast on December 22.
Police and forensic investigators remained at the crime scene on Thursday.
It is understood Mrs. Anyos belonged to a group of people who were helping someone move at that time.
“I understand the car has been parked in the same spot for a number of hours,” Detective Mark Mooney told reporters last week.
At least 10 people assisted police in their investigation into the shooting. In the photo, the police are on site on Thursday
“We have called in the homicide squad because the victim’s injuries are critical and we don’t know at this point if she will survive or not.”
Before the shooting, dozens of people had gone to the house to pick up free furniture advertised on Facebook Marketplace.
At least ten people helped the police with their investigation on Wednesday.
“Everyone has been very compliant at this point,” Detective Mooney said.
“Eight to 10 people went back to one of our stations to make statements.
“We’re also hunting for people who have been here before, people who may have seen or heard something, or spoken to certain individuals while they were here, or who had video or CCTV cameras.”
It is believed there was another person in the Volkswagen Jetta at the time of the shooting.

Police are calling on witnesses who left the scene before officers arrived to come forward
“It appears the victim may have been sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle and was shot through the seat,” Inspector Mooney said.
‘I understand the car has been parked in the same spot for a few hours.
“She arrived on scene with some of our witnesses who were helping (people) move.”
Police has called on all witnesses who left the scene before the arrival of the officers to come forward.
“We would like to speak to anyone who was present to provide us with any information we do not yet have,” Inspector Mooney said.
‘It will be a complex investigation.’
He emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the population.
Anyone with information, CTTV/dashcam footage or who has visited the property in recent days is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
