Since its release in January of this year, the series has been a hit with fans and has reportedly generated a lot of momentum for fans of Martin’s across the pond.
But the role throws a wrench in the job for Line Of Duty fans, as he needs to shoot for The Rig over the summer.
It was reported back in December that Line of Duty would return with an explosive climax to the series, with bosses considering screening it on Christmas.
said a source Sun: ‘The Rig was a huge hit for Prime Video, second only to The Lord of the Rings in terms of millions of people watching it worldwide.
“Crucially, the show seemed to find a large audience in the United States, giving Martin the opportunity to raise his profile across the Atlantic and potentially carve out a career there.
“It would also benefit him personally, as he already has a home in the US with his American wife, Tianna Flynn, and their three-year-old son.”
MailOnline has contacted representatives for Martin Compston and the BBC.
Unfortunately, fans were “disappointed” by the police show’s sixth season finale last year.
