The guard

Wendy Ide writes: ‘There are no leprechauns in this terrible romantic comedy. Otherwise, however, virtually no theme park Ireland cliché is left untouched in a Lindsay Lohan vehicle, directed by Janeen Damian, that reimagines Irish Catholicism as a glittering, mischievous delivery system for magical realist plot devices.

Variety

Owen Gleiberman writes, “The film is as frothy as the froth on a pint of Guinness, as formulaic as the latest disposable Netflix rom-com. Yet these two make you believe they belong together, and not every romantic comedy does that.

The Irish Times

Tara Brady writes: ‘The cartoonish, colorful cinematography brings an emerald sparkle to Killruddery House, Lough Tay, the Cliffs of Moher and other tourist attractions. What else? It has been professionally installed? Does everyone have nice hair?’

Observer

Emily Zemler writes, “A whimsical romcom that pays tribute to beloved films like Lohan’s own Freaky Friday and Just My Luck, and everyone’s favorite Irish romcom, Leap Year.”
