Lindsay Lohan is getting fans excited for the upcoming Freak Friday sequel, Freakier Friday, which will hit theaters next year.
The actress, 38, teased details about the “exciting” new film and talked about reuniting with on-screen mom Jamie Lee Curtis in a new interview with Elle.
Released in 2003, Freaky Friday follows a mother and teenage daughter (played by Curtis and Lohan, respectively) who magically switch bodies after reading a cryptic fortune cookie.
Lohan said the sequel will be a lot of fun for fans of the beloved family comedy.
‘There’s a lot of fun fashion in the film, and that’s exciting. There are a lot of different, new, very exciting and fun aspects to this movie,” the mother of one said.

‘I think people are really going to enjoy it. It’s a really fun movie and we had a lot of fun making it.”
She then discussed working with Curtis again – 21 years after Freaky Friday was released.
Lohan told Elle that she felt “so lucky” to be back on set with Curtis, describing her as an “amazing person” and “friend.”
‘It makes such a difference on set, because then you don’t feel like going to work every day. I love Jamie,” she gushed.
“She’s such a great person to have on set. She’s just a great person overall.”
Lohan added, “So we were really excited to be able to work together.”
She also spoke about their close bond off-screen.
‘She always comes up with new words of wisdom. I can’t even think of one because there are so many,” the Mean Girls star shared.
‘I think we are in constant consultation with each other, [on] live and grow and how things change over the years and how we evolve.
“It’s just an ongoing conversation,” Lohan said.

While Disney has yet to confirm an official release date, fans can expect to see Freakier Friday in theaters sometime in 2025.
Filming for the sequel began in June this year and production wrapped in late August.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Curtis gave some inside scoop on working with Lindsay again.
“The whole thing was fun, just on all levels,” she told the outlet.
Curtis said Lohan was “always” in “mom mode.” Lohan welcomed her first child, son Luai, to husband Bader Shammas in July 2023.
Curtis continued, “She just loves it. It’s actually very difficult to get her out of mother mode.’
Although the fiery-haired actress never brought her son to the set during filming, Curtis shared that Shammas would pick her up from work “almost every day.”
‘Bader and Luai came and [would wait] for her in her trailer, and then they all go home together,” she gushed.
At Disney’s D23 fan event to promote the film in August, the couple was asked who they would like to switch bodies with, like in their hit film, and Lohan said: her baby.
“Maybe my baby,” Lohan replied. ‘Just to see – because he’s so pure and so happy, just to see life through his eyes, every day. He’s just a beautiful bundle of joy. I can’t think of anything else.’

In 2021, Lohan announced on social media that she was engaged to Shammas after three years of dating. Writing on Instagram, she said: “My love. My life. My family. My future.’
The couple tied the knot on April 3, 2022, and jetted off on a lavish honeymoon to Turkey with the financier.
Less than a year later, on March 14, 2023, when she was about five months pregnant, the actress announced she was expecting.
At the time, she posted a photo of a baby romper with the caption “coming soon…” and the caption, “We are blessed and excited.”
