Linda Evangelista has revealed for the first time that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
In a new interview with The Wall Street Journal magazinethe 58-year-old supermodel spoke about her 2018 diagnosis that led to her undergoing a bilateral mastectomy before discovering another lump in her breast last year.
Evangelista’s first encounter with cancer was discovered during her annual mammogram.
“The margins weren’t good and because of other health factors I decided without hesitation, because I wanted to put everything behind me and not have to deal with this, for a bilateral mastectomy. I thought I was good and ready for life. Breast cancer wouldn’t kill me,” she said in an interview published Tuesday.

But unfortunately, in July last year, she had another cancer scare after discovering a lump in her breast.
The supermodel recalled that her oncologist was “unimpressed,” but she went ahead with an MRI.
What was found during the MRI prompted her doctor to do a biopsy. It turned out she had cancer in her pectoral muscle.
Evangelista told her doctor at the time, “Dig a hole in my chest.
‘I don’t want it to look pretty. I want you to dig. I want to see a hole in my chest when you’re done. Do you understand me? I’m not dying of this.’
Since then, the doctors were told her prognosis was good, leading her to wonder why it wasn’t “great,” and she was told, “Well, once it’s back, there’s a chance.”
Evangelista said she had “a terrible oncotype score,” a number that predicts the likelihood of the cancer coming back.
“I know I have one foot in the grave, but I’m totally in party mode,” she added.
The supermodel said that ‘only a handful of people knew’ about her cancer ordeal.
