Lily James laments modern dating amid romance rumours with Alexa Chung’s ex Orson Fry

‘There’s too much choice!’ EXCLUSIVE: Lily James shares her dating frustrations amid romance rumors with Alexa Chung’s ex Orson Fry

Lily James lamented the dangers of modern dating, insisting that this generation has “too much choice” when it comes to finding a partner.

The actress, 34, split from her boyfriend Michael Shuman in February after two years of dating and shortly after was linked to Alexa Chung’s ex Orson Fry.

During the breakup, Lily was on the promotional tour for What’s Love Got to Do with It? in which she plays a hapless filmmaker who turns the lens on her best friend to make a documentary about his arranged marriage.

During an interview with her co-star Shazad Latif, the Golden Globe nominee was asked if she thinks it’s “harder to find love today than it was two generations ago?”

Lily quickly agreed, musing, “Absolutely. I look at my grandmother who was married to my grandfather for so long – she was 19 when she met him – and they had the best life and they were so in love.”

She seemed to refer to the rise of dating apps and matchmaking sites and continued: “There are a lot more options now and I think with the world getting bigger there is too much choice.”

Lily previously shared her dating struggles, describing herself as a “serial relationship person” and claiming that guys are “crap” on dating app Hinge.

Asked about dating disasters on Capital Radio, she said, “I’ve been kind of a serial relationship person, so I haven’t had any crazy dating stories.

“But I went on my friends’ hinge the other day and I was just desperate. I mean come on! The boys, they were worthless.

“I’m sure some girls are c**p too, but men are worse.

“There’s a line in the movie where my character looks at this guy and he has a sentimental quote and she says, ‘He’s fit enough that I overlook the sentimental quote,’ which is ‘every day is a new rainbow ‘, but that would be a bit of a turnoff for me.’

Lily’s comments came shortly after her split from rock star ex Michael. The couple called time on their relationship after growing apart, The Sun claims.

The couple were first linked in February 2021 after they were spotted sharing a kiss outside a Suffolk boutique hotel while singing What’s Love Got To Do With It?

A source told the publication, “Lily and Michael have grown apart over the past few months and have now decided to end their relationship.

“They just couldn’t make it work as a couple, but they both wish each other the best for the future.”

Lily then fueled romance rumors with Alexa Chung’s ex Orson Fry after being spotted together several times.

Orson, the scion of the Fry chocolate dynasty, began dating fashion icon Alexa in 2019, but the couple split in the summer of 2022.
