Lily James’s 36-hour birthday bash: The Downton Abbey star parties at an exclusive London club before jetting to Milan to carry on the celebrations

If you’ve gone into town for a birthday outing, a big party the next night may have little appeal – let alone if it’s hundreds of miles away.

But hours after Lily James left a London hotel looking a little teary, she showed no signs of slowing down her 35th celebration as she traveled to Milan for a fashion exhibition.

On Friday, the Downton Abbey star celebrated her birthday in a £10,000 outfit at London’s ‘most exclusive’ private club, Apollo’s Muse.

The actress beamed as she walked into the Mayfair venue accompanied by two men in matching cream suits.

Ms James, who partied into the early hours with her friend actress Gemma Chan and magician Dynamo, wore a Yves Saint Laurent polka dot dress worth £4,639. Around her shoulders was a Burberry coat, which normally sells for around £2,000.

Mrs James also wore £875 gold Jimmy Choo sandals and completed the look with a £2,500 Dolce & Gabbana black handbag.

The actress shared a photo of herself surrounded by flowers and balloons online, as well as a birthday message from Spice Girl Emma Bunton.

Marketed as one of ‘the most private private members clubs’, Apollo’s Muse is located in the Bacchanalia restaurant in Mayfair, believed to be one of Ms James’ favorite venues.

But despite hours of partying, there was no rest for Mrs James. She was later seen leaving her hotel in central London wearing baggy trousers, a leather jacket and a cap before flying 600 miles to Milan.

There she rubbed shoulders with actress Demi Moore, 61, and 36-year-old M&S model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley at Dolce & Gabbana’s 40th anniversary exhibition at the Palazzo Reale museum.

For her second party in 36 hours, Ms James ditched the previous night’s neutral tones and opted for a black two-piece consisting of a sheer halter-neck top and wide-leg trousers.

Yesterday, the jet-setting may have continued for the actress as it was believed she had flown back to Britain to prepare for the upcoming release of mystery comedy film Greedy People.
