The star-studded party is “hosted by Roberta Armani in honor of Martin Scorsese on the occasion of the historic 10th Academy Award nomination for Killers of the Flower Moon,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The tribute to the legendary filmmaker comes after Lily, Martin and Leonardo DiCaprio reunited to discuss all things Killers of the Flower Moon.

The Hollywood heavyweights posed for the cover of Variety and got candid about the making of the drama, its lengthy runtime and the blatant Oscar snub for star Leonardo.

Lily defended her colleague to the outlet, stating that both she and her parents were outraged by the omission.

“They were angry,” she said. ‘He was the first to congratulate me, with popping confetti. I told him how angry we all were.”

When the 96th annual Academy Award nominations were revealed, Martin received his 10th award for Best Director, while Lily received one for Best Actress, becoming the first Native American to be nominated in that category.

The 3 1/2 hour film received a total of eight more Oscar nominations, but the Titanic star was left out in the cold.

‘My nomination is equally his. I couldn’t have done what I did without his generosity as an actor and as a person,” Lily added.

In the film, Leo plays World War I veteran Ernest Burkhart, who falls in love with an Osage woman, Lily’s Mollie Kyle.

Scorsese agreed and argued that Leo’s performance speaks for itself.

“He went so far into the complexities and contradictions of a man who was so weak and malleable, who did such unspeakable things, but who also truly loved his wife,” the movie icon explained.

“Leo fearlessly created a true Everyman… an Everyman that people just don’t want to acknowledge. So that will continue.’

Leonardo has yet to make a public statement about the snub, although he did take to his Instagram to acknowledge the Oscar nominations.

“Congratulations to my dear friend @LilyGladstone for making Oscars history as the first Native American woman nominated for Best Actress in Killers Of The Flower Moon, and the fourth Native actress to ever earn a nomination in the category,” she raved he.

“And considering the nine other nominations for this powerful film, it was an honor to tell this story with all of you.”

As for the criticism of the film’s length, Scorsese explained to Variety, “I really don’t know how to respond to it other than the fact that a lot of people seem to be okay with it.”

“This one felt good (at this length), and I felt that while I was looking at it. I felt the inside of it.”

He also talked about hiring Lily for the role on the spot.

‘What I saw Lily do in Certain Women – how she commanded the space and the screen and the emotional impact of what seemed minimal and very internal – that was what I was looking for.

“We had just started developing the character, and I felt Lily had it in her. That she would find her serious.’

In January, Lily made history at the 81st Golden Globe Awards when she took home Best Actress in a Drama Film, making her the first Indigenous actor to win an award in the ceremony’s 81-year history.

In the film, Lily — who uses they/them pronouns — portrayed Burkhart, an Osage woman whose family members are tragically murdered in a plot to seize their fortune.

Gladstone, whose ancestry includes Blackfeet and Nez Perce roots, is now only the second Native actress to be recognized by the Globes. The first was Irene Bedard, nominated in 1995 for the television film Lakota Woman: Siege at Wounded Knee.

“This is a historic event, and it is not just mine,” Gladstone said in English as he accepted the Golden Globe, after opening their acceptance speech in the language of Blackfeet.

“I’m holding it with all my beautiful sisters in the movie and my mother (in the movie), Tantoo Cardinal.”

The star then noted that Hollywood has a history of creating fictional native languages instead of portraying them accurately and authentically

“I’m so grateful that I can speak even a little bit of my language because in this industry, native actors would speak their lines in English and then the sound mixers would spin them backwards to get the native language on camera,” Gladstone explained out. .

She then thanked Chief Standing Bear and the Osage Nation, as well as Scorsese and her co-stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert DeNiro, for being “allies.”

“This is for every little outdoor kid, every little city kid, every little indigenous kid who has a dream, who sees themselves represented and sees our stories told by ourselves, in our own words, with great allies and tremendous trust in everyone . other.’
