Lily Allen proudly gushes her husband David Harbour is ‘very big and hench’ as she pokes fun at his dress sense but admits she ‘loves him dearly’: ‘He’s a Marvel superhero now’

Lily Allen has praised her husband David Harbour’s physique as a ‘henchman’ as she pokes fun at his outfit choices.

The singer, 38, admitted she “loves her husband very much” as she described the Stranger Things star, 48, as “really big.”

Speaking on her new podcast Miss Me? on BBC Sounds, Lily and her friend Miquita Oliver discussed the ’90s fashion trend of men wearing brightly colored shirts from Ben Sherman.

Miquita joked: ‘Yes and it fit. I like that look. Go back to that style, just jeans and a citrus polo shirt, oh my god.”

However, Lily confessed, “I don’t think I could handle David slinging around in a citrus-colored Ben Sherman.”

She then proudly added: ‘He’s very big, like he’s a henchman, because he’s a Marvel superhero now.”

David appeared in 2021’s Black Widow as Alexei Shostakov, aka Red Guardian, the Russian super-soldier counterpart to Captain America, and will reprise the role next year in Thunderbolts.

Lily went on to mock David’s fashion taste, admitting: ‘I I love my husband dearly – otherwise I obviously wouldn’t have married him – but he doesn’t quite understand what he’s wearing. Does that make any sense?’

Miquita agreed, saying, “It’s like Harry Styles. It’s like, “Do you even know about it? You look great, but do you know what you’re doing and why?”

It comes after Lily and David put last year’s rumors to rest once and for all when they put on a united front at the Stranger Things: The First Shadow press night in December.

The couple tied the knot in Las Vegas in September 2020 in a wedding officiated by an Elvis impersonator, after first meeting on the celebrity dating app Raya.

David is stepfather to Lily’s two daughters Ethel, 12, and Marnie, 11, from her marriage to ex-husband Sam Cooper from 2011 to 2018.

There were previous rumors of ‘marriage trouble’ after fans noticed Lily unfollowed David on social media.

David addressed the speculation at the time, admitting that the SAG-AFTRA strikes affected their relationship because he was no longer working.

He confessed, “Let me tell you, my wife likes it when I go to work because it’s nice for her to have her life and me to have my life and not just irritate each other with the whole time to be around.”

Despite this, the actor confirmed that he and Lily are still very much in love, as he described his wedding as “so wonderful.”

Speaking to People in November, he said their marriage has only grown stronger as they “grow closer and closer.”

Lily’s latest admission comes after she made headlines for honestly admitting that her two children “totally ruined” her pop career because she chose to prioritize them over work.

Last Tuesday she… said she believes women should decide whether to put their children or their careers first, and she chose the former.

Speaking to the Radio Times podcast, she said, “My children ruined my career. I love them and they complete me, but in terms of pop stardom they totally ruined it.

“I get really annoyed when people say you can have it all, because honestly, you can’t.

‘Some people choose their career over their children and that’s their prerogative, but my parents were quite absent when I was little. I feel like it left some nasty scars that I don’t want to repeat on mine.’

Lily’s father is actor Keith Allen, 70, who left her film producer mother Alison Owen, 63, when Lily was four.

Lily has now said that she has ‘chosen to take a step back and focus on my children’ and she is glad she did because ‘they are quite versatile.’
