However, another video, taken from a different angle in the club, reportedly shows the man who was kicked while winking his middle finger at Lil Xan, according to TMZ.
Sources told the publication that club security tried to arrest the rapper, but he quickly fled before they could catch him.
According to law enforcement sources, police received a call about the apparent attack around 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
They said the call described the incident as an assault and battery case.
According to the sources, a person who witnessed the attack described it as unprovoked.
The man who was punched and kicked by Lil Xan reportedly refused any medical attention while still in the club.
The event appears to have been even more serious than the video indicates, as police were told that the artist had attacked two other people as he tried to leave the venue.
Police are reportedly investigating the altercation at the club and are looking for Lil Xan.
Hailing from Redlands, California, the rapper began to gain popularity in the mid-2010s after establishing himself with songs posted to YouTube and SoundCloud.
Xan has previously spoken about his past struggles with addiction to opiates and benzodiazepines – including its namesake, Xanax – although he was able to come off the drugs and has urged his fans to avoid the substances.
In 2019, he was caught on video waving a gun at a man at a gas station and calling him the N-word.
He was reportedly confronted about an earlier video in which he confessed that he found Tupac Shakur’s music “boring,” and that criticizing the sentiment apparently sparked the dangerous confrontation.
The rapper later claimed he pulled the gun in “self-defense,” and the man he pointed it at later filed a police complaint.
It’s unclear what happened with the resulting police investigation, but the man subsequently charged Lil Xan for the confrontation.
In October, the man was awarded nearly $28,000 by a judge in a default judgment after the rapper never responded to the lawsuit, according to TMZ.
