Skip Bayless’ post-Shannon Sharpe future has gotten a little clearer, as the “Undisputed” host announced Thursday that rapper Lil Wayne will appear for a weekly segment on the show.
Following Sharpe’s departure from the show in June after seven years, Bayless has yet to announce a regular co-host for the program – which returns Aug. 28 after a two-month hiatus.
However, we now know that at least some of Sharpe’s past airtime will be filled by Wayne – real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. — whom Bayless called his “brother.”
“He’s so deep when it comes to sports,” Bayless said of his podcast. “He doesn’t yell or yell, but he does get emotional. And you’re hanging on his every word, because believe me, he’s thought about every word.
“I like to think I see and say things that others don’t see,” added Bayless.

Bayless said the five-time Grammy winner may not always be in the studio for the show due to his tour schedule, as the New York Post reported. notedbut promised a 12-15 minute segment with the rapper every week.
“He’s in the go-around with heart and soul,” said Bayless.
The publication previously reported that former NFL star Richard Sherman had emerged as a front-runner to become Bayless’ new debating partner.

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith — who pioneered the debate format on “First Take” with Bayless — admitted that he wanted Sharpe as his co-host, confirming that discussions took place about possibly adding the NFL Hall of Famer to the show.
Since Max Kellerman left ‘First Take’ in 2021, Smith has lately debated with a rotating cast of pundits and ex-athletes, including JJ Redick and Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo.
If Sharpe joined Smith at ESPN — which recently fired more than 20 high-profile commentators — he wouldn’t come cheap for the Worldwide Leader.
