Lil Durk hospitalized for a week with severe exhaustion and dehydration

Rapper Lil Durk is on the mend after spending a week in hospital and being treated for severe exhaustion and dehydration.

The 30-year-old Chicago resident (born Durk Derrick Banks) checked into an Ohio hospital on July 6 after falling ill, according to TMZ.

Although his hospitalization was initially just a safety precaution, his condition was more serious than first thought.

As a result, he missed the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles, while also canceling a number of shows across Europe.

The rapper has still not been cleared by doctors to return to work in any capacity, although he has issued a statement to his fans.

“My fans mean everything to me, you are the reason I’m doing this,” the rapper began in his heartfelt statement.

“I was looking forward to hitting all my European fans, performing this week(end), attending the ESPYs and more,” he continued.

“But after performing and traveling daily, I am severely dehydrated and have been advised by my doctors not to travel due to exhaustion,” he clarified.

“Once I have my full energy back, it’s back to business that I look forward to,” Durk concluded with the hashtag #StillHealing.

Ironically, the name of his new album is Almost Healed, which debuted at the end of May, which debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 album charts, and he’s gearing up to release a deluxe edition of the album.

The news comes just under a year after he suffered an onstage accident at Chicago’s Lollapalooza involving a pyrotechnic device.

“Because of the incident that happened onstage at Lollapalooza in Chicago, I’m taking a break and focusing on my health,” said the 29-year-old performer, whose real name is Durk Derrick Banks.

“I finished my performance for my fans yesterday. Appreciate you all.’

In an accompanying photo, the Chicago resident was seen with a bandage over his right eye while in a medical facility.

In the incident, Lil Durk was playing his song Back In Blood when he accidentally made contact with some pyrotechnic smoke flares, Variety reported.

In a clip on Connected Soundz On Instagram, the Broadway Girls hitmaker was seen rubbing his shirt over his eyes after making contact.

Crew members were seen rushing to help the performer, to which a voice into the microphone said, ‘Woah, woah, are you okay, bro? [The smoke] shot straight up.’
