A Reddit user has revealed the perfect job for those looking for a position that requires ‘low effort’ yet pays more than £60,000 in salary.
An anonymous Brit sparked debate when they took to Reddit Britain forum to ask: ‘What jobs do you all have that require little effort, but pay well, around 60,000 euros and higher?’
And among the responses from their fellow Redditors was a scrum master role, an unconventional role that supposedly brings in a lot of money.
One person wrote: ‘I’m not sure what the market looks like for them at the moment, but there was a time when this was a £60,000 to £80,000 job with very little stress/effort as most things were someone else’s responsibility to worry about to make. A kind of adult babysitter.’
Workplace Glass door found that the average pay range for a scrum master is between £50,000 and £74,000.

The Reddit user explained, “You can get certified for a two-day course.”
However, not everyone was very impressed with the snazzy job title, as another poster noted: ‘We had a scrum master and if he worked more than half an hour a day I would have been surprised’.
Although another Reddit user said: ‘You clearly don’t have my boss! She could talk the hind legs off a draft horse.
‘Our scrum never lasts less than 20 minutes, except on days when she is absent.’
Many others also debated the purpose of the scrum master: ‘Ideally, you would put people in a position where they don’t need a ‘scrum’ because their team is mature enough to function efficiently’.
One Redditor summed up the unusual job, after another said: ‘I’d never heard of that until it came up earlier during a job search.
‘I was curious, so I read the ad and still don’t know what it is. It said £70,000 a year, but I didn’t understand the jargon.’
They said, “You are basically responsible for keeping a project team running smoothly, facilitating meetings, and reporting on progress, but you have no decision-making, accountability, or responsibility whatsoever.”
Another who wasn’t convinced of the high status of the job said: ‘Scrum master is one of those jobs that only exists because of a unique flaw in an industry.
‘In this case it’s about SEs and social skills. You get a paid bench just because you’re a relatively sociable person with halfway decent organizational and planning skills.”
According to job site Courserathe role falls within the realm of project management, where scrum masters ‘control and manage project tasks towards the project goal’.
The website adds: ‘If you pursue a career as a Scrum Master, you will manage interactions and collaboration through small team environments, while engaging with leadership and key stakeholders.
“You use agile project management techniques to lead small teams through a project management lifecycle under the guidance of a product owner or project manager.”
Locksmiths were also on the list – with one person writing: ‘A locksmith charges so high because it’s so essential, but once you’re trained it’s quite easy.’
Another account joked: ‘Yes, I paid £90 for a 2 minute job.’
Another explained that this is because “Unfortunately it’s a ‘you don’t pay for the time, you pay for the knowledge scenarios.'”
Another user added that locksmiths usually work unsocial hours and said: ‘And pay for calling if you get a call late at night/early morning’
A statistician also weighed in, revealing: ‘I earn £80,000 a year, including pension contributions, and it’s the easiest and least stressful job in the world.’
Even more surprising was that a construction role made the list.
One person wrote: ‘I’m an excavator operator. £65,000 basic salary (wage), but currently earns over £2,000 per month in overtime per minute.’
He joked, “It’s cool that I actually get paid to play with big Tonka toys!”
Another claimed: ‘Financial regulator, 60,000 to do nothing!’, to which another said: ‘IT generally requires relatively little effort once you get away from the support desks.
‘I am a system administrator in the financial sector and I think I work an average of… 3 hours a week’.
“Train Driver” also scored highly, as one Redditor described the gig as “good security and decent pay.” People rarely stop, they stay until retirement. Hence (the) low vacancy rate’.
One added: ‘Train drivers get £60,000 a year and they’re always on strike!’
