Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth’s Dondoko Island is a whole game within a game
As you thought Yakuza mini games reached their peak running an amateur baseball team, think again, like Like a dragon: infinite wealth introduces Dondoko Island.
Unveiled during October 25 Example of Xbox PartnerOn Dondoko Island, protagonist Ichiban Kasuga travels to a remote island destination (on the back of a dolphin, no less) where he can build and maintain a home away from home for himself and his friends. It’s very clearly inspired by Animal Crossing: New Horizons, with the opportunity to catch fish and insects, make furniture, chat with islanders and so on.
Kasuga can also build a house for himself, where he can place the furniture he made or bought from the island’s shop. However, it won’t be sunshine and rainbows all the time; as the trailer below shows, enemies can pop up to wreak havoc. Luckily, Kasuga can beat them back with his baseball bat in what seems like a departure from the turn-based combat of the main game.
Dondoko Island seriously takes the cake when it comes to the series’ iconic minigames. While most in the series are relatively small-scale, such as bowling, batting cages, and chicken racing, there are a few that stand out as more fleshed-out experiences. Especially in more recent contributions.
Yakuza 0s For example, cabaret clubs and property management involved hours of stories. 0 And Yakuza Kiwami also featured a fantastic slot car racing storyline that persisted across both games. Yakuza: Like a dragon’s kart, racing was also incredibly more fun. And I really can’t forget the time Yakuza 5 when Taiga Saejima spent some time hunting a bear over a snowy mountain. Yes, that was a thing.
I’m pretty excited about what Dondoko Island has to offer Like a dragon: infinite wealth when the game launches on January 26, 2024. As a lover of both high-stakes crime stories and laid-back lifestyle games, I know I’ll often have to jump over water to get away from it all.
