A 13-year-old girl in Northern California took her family’s Tesla for a joyride and crashed into several parked cars and a utility pole.
The incident happened around 4:30 a.m. Monday morning when an unidentified teenager got behind the wheel in Santa Rosa with two of her friends.
The girl did not have her parents’ permission to use the expensive vehicle and eventually lost control when she hit a bump in the road and the car totaled.
“It was miraculous that they all had only minor injuries and were out of the Tesla and able to walk,” the Santa Rosa Police Department said in a statement after the crash.
It is unclear at this time whether alcohol was involved in the incident.

Local police shared details of the horrific crash in a Facebook post shared hours after the incident.
Officers and first responders were dispatched to 729 King Street for reports of a damaged black Tesla and first responders were also dispatched.
Upon arrival, officers found the three youths outside the vehicle walking around with only minor scratches and bruises.
The group informed police that the 13-year-old girl had tried to drive the Tesla and lost control and hit several cars before coming to a stop.
Next to the parked cars and power pole, the teens had hit a street sign.
Pacific Gas and Electric was called to the scene to investigate possible power problems, but received no reports of outages.
Their parents were notified and the passengers were taken home.
The post shared by the Santa Rosa Police Department has sparked a strong community response, which has received hundreds of responses from local residents.

Another commenter said the parents should pay for the damages and the teenage girl should be forced to do community service and wait for her own license
Residents expressed everything from anger at the teen’s recklessness to gratitude for the group’s safety.
“She is under house arrest for life,” one wrote.
“I can’t believe all three of them walked away from that! Hopefully they learn a lesson here,” another commenter added.
‘Wow, luckily they’re not dead! Parents should be able to replace/repair a damaged power pole,’ replied a local resident.
“Parents have to pay for all city damage. Plus the 3 vehicles she hit. She should do some youth time or community service,” another commenter shared.
