Libbi Gorr makes shocking career move two years after quitting breakfast radio – as she reflects on ‘cancelled before it was invented’ after infamous Chopper interview

Veteran radio presenter Lisbeth ‘Libbi’ Gorr returns to the airwaves two years after leaving ABC Radio Melbourne for personal reasons.

The comedian, 58, recently announced she will be hosting a weekday breakfast show on soon-to-be-launched digital station Disrupt Radio.

She told it this week Stellar magazine that listeners can expect an engaging talkback show in which she will interview world-famous stars.

‘Thirty years after we met, Bob Geldof comes to see me for the first week. I’m going to spend a week with Bob and see what happens,’ she said.

Libbi left her ABC Radio gig in late 2021, after ten years in the role, after tragically losing her older brother Jon in an accident and having to spend time with family.

She revealed that it was with the help of her creative agency Thinkerbell that she managed to “rebrand” her image before returning to the airwaves.

Luckily, they were able to help Libbi find the perfect gig at Disrupt, which kicks off Monday.

She said listeners can expect plenty of informative interviews, but admitted she was done playing her raunchy ’90s alter ego Ellie McFeast, after an infamous interview on her ABC talk show McFeast Live with a drunk Mark ‘Chopper’ Read in 1998.

The infamous interview with the career criminal caused TV stars to horrify the public after a visibly drunk Chopper bragged and bragged about the number of people he had killed.

He then peered at Gorr’s breasts and attempted to grope her in front of the studio audience.

The ABC was inundated with complaints about the shocking segment and later apologized to the public, admitting its showing was “an error of judgement.”

In the aftermath, Gorr was sadly blamed by many, as people wondered why she ever thought it would be a good idea to book a notorious career criminal for a talk show.

The ABC has been working hard to ensure footage from the event does not reappear on social media and it was recently pulled from YouTube due to ‘copyright reasons’.

“I was canceled before it was invented. I probably lost about four years. I didn’t realize I was in a dark place, because no one was talking about dark places back then, but it certainly took me by surprise.’

Fortunately, Libbi worked hard to repair her image and rebranded herself as a hard-nosed journalist in the years since.
