Liam Payne’s heartbroken sister has paid a heartbreaking tribute to the One Direction star, saying he ‘lived to make people laugh’.

Nicola Payne revealed in a tearful Instagram post that she found out her sibling had died in a fall from a hotel balcony in Argentina when a news alert appeared on her phone.

She said she “chilled” when she saw it and had spent the last few days hoping it was a mistake as she struggled to come to terms with Liam’s tragic death.

Nicola shared family snaps and one of Liam on stage with 1D, alongside an emotional tribute as she said: ‘You really were too good for this earth, you are an angel who just lived to make people laugh and happy.’

The 36-year-old told how she reflected on his excited messages from the night before his niece was born.

“When I saw the news pop up on my phone that you had left us, it chilled me,” she said.

‘I wanted so badly for this not to be true. I spent days hoping it was a mistake and someone was wrong.”
