Liam Payne went above and beyond to make sure his first New Years with girlfriend Kate Cassidy was one to remember.

The One Direction star, 29, surprised Kate, 23, with a huge bouquet of flowers and champagne to see in early 2023, after hitting back at a troll who said the actress is only with him for your money.

Taking to Instagram, Liam put up a storm with his glamorous partner and teased that he might even drop some new music in the coming months.

American actress Kate donned a gold minidress while sipping champagne, while Liam enjoyed a scotch.

The hitmaker wrote: ‘Happy New Year… I hope 2023 brings you everything you ever wanted. Heck, who knows, maybe even some new music. Have a good time x’

Kate, meanwhile, uploaded a snap earlier in the day of herself holding the singer’s hand during a walk on the beach before sharing a snap of the flowers and drink her boyfriend gave her. She wrote: ‘WTF Liam!’

It comes after Liam responded to a troll who claimed the One Direction star’s girlfriend is only with him for the money.

The singer and Kate made their red carpet debut as a couple at the British Fashion Awards last month.

But it seems not everyone is sold on the relationship, as a fan sent a DM warning Liam that Kate was after his money earlier this week.

Liam responded by taking a screenshot of the message and posting it to his Instagram Stories and gushing about his new romance.

Kate, meanwhile, uploaded a snap earlier in the day of herself holding hands with the singer during a walk on the beach.

He said: ‘I have to say you could tell me anything and I couldn’t convert, I never felt a love like I do for Katelyn.’ We make each other better people.

Defending her against the gold-digging accusations, he said: “If it was just for the money, I would give it all to her.”

“It’s not (please remember I’m very sexy) and I know I’m funny and a lovable person.”

Hitting back: It comes after Liam hit back at a troll who claimed the One Direction star’s girlfriend is only with him for the money.

“And I don’t give a shit to say that for the first time in my life I’m happy to be me and that’s priceless.”

Liam’s bold claim about his relationship with Kate comes after his previous high-profile relationships with Cheryl and Maya Henry.

Despite his insistence that he had never felt “love like that”, Liam was engaged to Maya and shares a son, Bear, with ex-girlfriend Cheryl.
