Liam Gallagher promises Oasis reunion if Manchester City wins Champions League

Oasis fans rejoice – the most unlikely of reunion tours are on the schedule.

All that needs to happen is for Manchester City to become only the second Premier League team in history to complete the historic treble.

Manchester City are just three games away from a historic performance after an impressive 4-0 victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.

Pep Guardiola’s side now seem almost unstoppable in their pursuit of a treble: Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup titles.

A win against Chelsea on Sunday would secure their third successive league title, with Manchester United awaiting them in the FA Cup final.

United remain the only England team to win all three major trophies in a single season, achieving the feat in 1999.

Manchester City are on the verge of a historic treble that could result in Oasis being re-formed as both Gallagher brothers are fans

While City fans dare to dream, one of their biggest supporters has put some serious incentive on the line.

Liam Gallagher is a proud fan of Manchester City and is known for hating two things; Manchester United and his brother Noël.

However, the co-founder of pioneering British pop-rock group Oasis has declared all will be forgiven if his beloved City can complete the treble.

“If Man City win the Champions League I’ll call my brother and bring back the f***in-ban together LG x,” he posted on social media.

Oasis rose to immense popularity in the mid-1990s with their debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’, which was followed by their iconic second release, ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’.

This tension finally came to a head in August 2009, during the band’s tour. A backstage altercation at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris resulted in Noel announcing his departure from the band, citing irreconcilable differences with his brother Liam.

The animosity between Liam and Noel Gallagher lasted long after the Oasis breakup.

Both brothers have pursued solo careers and continue to make headlines for their ongoing feuds and controversial comments about each other.

It means there will be a great celebration for the citizens if the city can get the job done.

And Australian comedian Jim Jefferies loves it.

“I never supported [sic] Man City so far,” he posted with a screenshot of Liam Gallagher’s pledge.

Other football fans were quick to follow Jefferies in becoming temporary Man City fans in order to get an Oasis reunion.

“Love Liverpool but for an Oasis reunion I believe for the rest of this table I’m a Manchester City fan,” one fan wrote.

Others were less than enthusiastic about the possible reunion.

“If Man City has any integrity they will give in now so there is no chance of Oasis getting back together,” another fan posted.

Noel Gallagher is also a fan of Manchester City and earlier this year hoped they would meet Inter in the final as he said they ‘are not very good’.

“Inter, because they are the weakest.” he replied when asked who he preferred to deal with.

“Moreover, Lukaku is not playing well at all,” he added.

“In my opinion, Napoli is stronger than Milan, but all Italian teams have fantastic fans who create an incredible atmosphere.

“But if I really have to choose, I’ll say Inter, they’re not that good.”

Inter secured a place in the final by beating AC Milan by a 3-0 aggregate score in the semi-final that concluded on Tuesday.

This year’s Champions League final will take place on Saturday, June 10 at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey.

This will be Manchester City’s second appearance in the final, following their first ever appearance in 2021 when they narrowly lost 1-0 to Chelsea.
