Lexmark’s ‘disruptive’ line of business printers is its most sustainable yet

Printing giant Lexmark has announced what it says is a range of industry-disrupting printer models designed to “reset the industry standard”, and has business customers firmly in its sights.

The company’s new 9 Series models promise to offer versatility and simplicity, but more importantly, Lexmark is also looking to address sustainability with its latest additions.

Lexmark’s 9 Series models are built on an evolution of A4 technology, which the company says lends simplicity to the printers, but they offer a more rounded and “fully featured” A3 package.

Lexmark announces new, sustainable business printers

Citing the advanced yet simple technology of the latest models, Arjan Paulussen, Managing Director, Western Europe & English Speaking Africa, claimed: “This new line of printers and MFPs is a disruptor for the industry.”

Most importantly, for companies looking to achieve their ESG goals, Lexmark says its printers are not only durable, but also “built to last.” This is welcome news as some manufacturers such as HP have been criticized for throttling performance via firmware updates.

All base model multifunction printers (MFPs) are made from 56% recycled post-consumer material and base model printers increase this to 73%. Citing the need for fewer resources, Lexmark added that its space-saving and energy-efficient designs help reduce its carbon footprint.

Fewer components also contribute to a longer lifespan, which reduces the chance of technical failures. The company ambitiously states that its 9 Series models are “designed and built to last seven years or more.”

During the ownership period, internal testing also showed that experienced technicians should be able to perform ten of the most common service actions within 15 minutes, increasing the appeal from an ESG perspective.

The CX963, CX962, CX961, CS963 and CX833 models will go on sale from June, while the CX951, CX950 and MX953 printers will be released later in the first three months of 2025.
