Lewis Hamilton reveals that Mercedes again suffered from bouncing cars during the Belgian Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton stated that Mercedes again suffered from bouncing cars during the Belgian Grand Prix.
Hamilton finished in fourth place in Belgium, while Red Bull’s Max Verstappen took another victory.
However, Hamilton managed to get ahead of some of his rivals and also got a bonus point for the fastest lap (1:47.305) after a late pit stop with fresh tyres.
Hamilton told Sky Sports F1: “I think it was a bit of a boring race, there wasn’t much going on, I couldn’t keep up with the cars in front of me.
“I had a hard time in the beginning, the rear is our biggest problem. Then we had a lot of bounce this weekend, so we’re back to the bounce like last year.
Lewis Hamilton said Mercedes suffered from bouncing at the Belgian Grand Prix
Hamilton finished fourth in the race in Belgium, with Max Verstappen again victorious
So in the end I kept the Ferrari within a few seconds, but I couldn’t get any closer to that battle. To get the fastest lap at the end, it was nice to have the gap to the car behind, it was decent. But it was gusty today and it was very hard out there and hard to keep it on track.”
Bouncing was a major issue for Mercedes after the Porpoises at the start of last season.
The problems have resurfaced after Mercedes made major car design changes midway through this season.
Hamilton admitted the bouncing is a “concern” and says Mercedes will look into the issue.
He said: “They (Mercedes) don’t know (what caused the bounce) and for me it’s a concern, but we’ll go through the data this week and try to figure out what we do for the next race,” he said . said.
‘But I don’t really have many more answers for you. I know what I want and I pray for it, just waiting for the day we get it.”
