It comes shortly after he admitted he was offered a role in the Hollywood star’s 2022 blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick from Hollywood legend Tom Cruise.

A sequel to the 1986 film, it stars Tom, 61, as Naval Aviator Lieutenant Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell. It is widely credited with rescuing Hollywood from the financial hole created by COVID-19 and the global pandemic. It grossed $1.496 billion worldwide.

But Lewis missed the opportunity after conflicting schedules led to the Mercedes driver turning down a cameo role in the action film.

Speak with GQhe admitted that he had begged for a role in the film years before principal photography began, when the prospect of a possible sequel was first mooted by Cruise.

“I said, ‘Dude, if you ever do Top Gun 2, I’ll even be a janitor. Let me be in it,'” he recalled.

Despite Lewis’s limited acting abilities, the good-natured Tom introduced him to the film’s director, Joseph Kosinski, but the driver soon realized he could not commit to a role.

Lewis proved the close collaboration with the brand and posed next to Rimowa’s CEO Hugues Bonnet-Masimbert

“First of all, I hadn’t even had an acting class,” he said. “And I don’t want to be the one to let this movie down.

‘And secondly, I simply didn’t have the time to dedicate myself to it. I remember having to tell Joe and Tom, and it broke my heart.”

He added: ‘And then of course I regretted it when they showed me the film and they said, “It could have been me!”’
