Lewis Hamilton once again shows off his edgy sense of style in a bright yellow kit as he steps out at the Monaco Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton once again showed his quirky sense of style when he stepped out at the Monaco Grand Prix on Saturday.

The Formula 1 star, 38, looked as stylish as ever as he arrived for a practice race at the Circuit de Monaco in Monte-Carlo ahead of Sunday’s big race.

For the outing, Lewis cut an edgy figure in a bright yellow co-ord, consisting of a zip-up collared jumper and wide-leg trousers.

The Mercedes driver kept himself comfortable in a pair of white sneakers and completed his look with a chunky watch and silver chain.

He shielded his eyes from the sun with unique silver mirrored sunglasses and carried his phone in one hand as he strolled through the crowd.

Lewis wore his braided hair back in a ponytail and donned his signature array of facial jewelry for the outing.

He set the third fastest time in first practice for the Monaco Grand Prix – a session cut short when Williams’ Alex Albon hit the wall with minutes to go.

During Friday practice he complained of his knees popping but was not seriously injured in the 150km/h incident at the first corner, Sainte Devote.

His front and left rear wheels were hanging off when the red flag was waved, but he still declared himself ‘OK’ over the radio.

As for Lewis, he was armed with the massive upgrade pack making its debut on the tight streets of the Principality.

A new side pod, front suspension and floor are all introduced in an effort to solve the design issues that have hindered their progress over the past year.

Lewis finished the session, in 26C heat, six tenths behind Ferrari’s pacesetter Carlos Sainz. Fernando Alonso was second fastest for Aston Martin.

Alonso was expected to be strong this weekend and began practice on Sunday 4-1 with the bookmakers for the win, while Lewis was in it 25-1.

Mercedes is traditionally not strong in Monaco.

On Sunday it will be 539 days since Lewis last won a race, the longest drought of his career.

In Friday’s practice, Lewis’ third place meant he was ahead of world champion Max Verstappen, who complained of handling problems and was only sixth.

Teammate Sergio Perez was fifth fastest, one place behind Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, the local boy.

Nico Hulkenburg bumped his Haas on the curb after exiting the tunnel. A red flag was waved and he took no further part.
