21-year-old Aston Villa striker Lewis Dobbin is set to join Norwich City on loan.

Dobbin was bought from Everton for £10 million in the summer and spent the first half of the season on loan at West Brom, although he failed to make an impact for the Baggies.

The youngster has already been to Norwich City’s training ground and is on the verge of sealing a temporary move to the Canary Islands.

Dobbin played eighteen times for West Brom in the first half of the season, but was unable to score or register a single assist.

However, only two of those appearances came from the start of the match, and only once in the Championship.

The England U19 international’s only league start was ended after 68 minutes, in addition to the 72 minutes in the Carabao Cup defeat to Fleetwood Town in August.

Dobbin had been left out of the Baggies’ New Year’s victory over Preston before co-agent Chris Brunt revealed his parent club had terminated the loan early.

“Villa have asked to call him back,” former Baggies player Brunt told BBC Radio WM.

‘He hasn’t played as much as they would have liked for a loan player coming from a Premier League club. We’ll just have to get on with it and move on.”

The Stoke-born youngster left Unai Emery’s Villa just over a month after signing without ever featuring.
