Levoit’s new pet air purifier turns on the fans when it senses your dog smells bad
- Levoit Pet Odor & Hair Air Purifier is especially for pet owners
- It can sense ‘important substances’ in the air and stimulate airflow in response
- You can also create routines with motion sensors
Levoit just launched an air purifier aimed specifically at pet owners, and it’s enough to give your dog a complex. Shown at CES 2025, the Levoit Pet Odor & Hair Air Purifier has a number of features I haven’t seen anywhere else among today’s best air purifiers.
We cover all the latest CES news of the show as it happens. Stick with us for the big stories on everything from 8K From TVs and foldable displays to new phones, laptops, smart home gadgets and the latest in AI.

First, it is programmed to quickly detect “substances of interest” such as isovaleric acid, ammonia and hydrogen sulfide. In case you’re not well versed in scientific terms for bodily functions, I did some Googling and I believe this roughly translates to sweat, pee, and farts. The fan speed is then adjusted to quickly purify the air, while a carbon filter helps neutralize odors. Whether it also works for human odors has not been confirmed.
Secondly, there is a motion detection system that adjusts the settings based on what is happening in the household at that moment. This appears to work with the brand’s ‘Smart Scene technology’, which uses AI to create routines. For example, it can boost airflow when you take your dog for a walk, then reduce it when you get home, so you return to a fresh-smelling home. The press information also mentions characteristics of ‘behavioral anticipation’, but does not go into more detail.
There’s a companion VeSync app that visualizes odor levels and trends in your home and can (satisfactorily) create a countdown for tracking purification tasks. Here you can also view air analysis reports and see how long it will be before you need to replace your filter (read more about how air purifiers work and what air purifiers can help you with here, if this is helpful).
The basic pet odor and hair air purifier will go on sale on Amazon in the second quarter (so sometime between early April and late June) and will cost $199 (about £160 / AU$320). A more advanced self-cleaning model will also be available from major retailers, with a list price of $249 (about £200 / AU$400).
