Christopher Redman showed a dedication that went above and beyond the call of duty with all of his patients at the Silver Star pre-eclampsia unit, turning up at odd hours to check on someone, or their baby, after cycling from his home in Oxford.
We knew him from 1986-87 when our son Alex was born six weeks early and thrived after treatment. Our second son Chris, born in 1992, 14 weeks early, did not make it to Oxford despite my pleas to use the air ambulance from Walsall. Christopher kept in touch with Walsall Manor Hospital during my stay.
The boys are now in their 30s and we are still in contact with the Silver Star unit to this day. How do you say thank you to someone who made it possible for you to have healthy children? That is something we will never forget.
